- Declan Carolan is Managing Director of ECR Community and General Manager of ECR Ireland and has worked in the retailing/FMCG sector for over thirty years.
- In Superquinn, (a chain of Irish supermarkets), he worked in store management and category management roles before becoming the company’s first Head of Supply Chain. In this role, Declan introduced holistic company strategies, according to ECR principles, where effective operations, optimal product availability, retailer/supplier collaboration, category management & supply chain strategies were aligned and became drivers for growth.
- Within ECR, Declan is a firm believer in collaboration … working together, internally & externally, to raise overall knowledge & expertise throughout the industry which contributes towards serving the consumer better. In this regard, “a rising tide lifts all boats”.
- Declan led the publication of the “Category Management Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow – ECR Community Review of Current practices in Category Management 2020” and the subsequent establishment of the global ECR #CatManNetwork.
- Declan launched the ECR Community Annual Global Trends in 2025 and will launch the ECR Community “What’s New Instore” in 2026.
- Declan has an M.B.A. in Retailing & Wholesaling from Stirling University, Scotland, a B.Sc. degree in Marketing from Trinity College, Dublin and completed the GS1 Germany Certified Category Manager Course.
